About Flowing Color

 

In the Flowing Color series each piece has a top rectangle that has been drained of any intense color or left completely black and white. The color has flowed to the bottom half and in some cases off the bottom of the piece. In contrast the lower half vibrates with color. The top color is restrained, below there is intense color.

This change in color brightness in the pieces reflects my Montana/New Mexico duality. The earthy color in the top half contrasts with the intense color below. The bottom section’s brilliance reflects a sense of color that has seeped across our southern border.
